Infantigo is known as the common, contiguous bacterial skin infection. Mostly, this thing affects the young children and infants. However, everyone of any age can get it from contact with someone who is infected.

What are the symptoms of infantigo? It is like a wound. The sores will grow into blisters fast, ooze, and burst, and then form the yellow crust. The crust itself is more known as the honey colored. Unfortunately, the clusters of blisters might expand to cover more of your skin. The sores are itchy and painful. When the crust phase, they will leave the red marks which will fade without leaving the things like scars.

Infantigo is the uncomfortable thing. For some cases, it involves the swollen glands in the area of the outbreak. In the worst cases, fever and swollen glands can occur. Generally, the first signs and symptoms of infantigo are reddish spots on the skin, usually around the nose and lips.

Those bacteria help you to protect from disease-causing bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. The commensal bacteria work hard to maintain the population of pathogenic bacteria. They work by producing substances that are toxic the pathogens, depriving them of nutrients, and so on. however, the strains of those staph can take the advantages of the break in the skin form the cut, scratch, insect bite, and many more in order to invade and colonize. This thing can cause infantigo. What makes it worst is that the normal skin also can be affected by the infection that caused by the colonized bacteria.

In about 10 days of bacteria colonization, infantigo blisters can appear. It works when the Staphylococus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria produce toxins that break apart the top skin layers. It causes the blisters to form. In most of the cases, the bacteria are already on the site. They are waiting for the chance to colonize.

Normally, those two types of bacteria are carried in the nose by between 20% to 50% of the general population. Meanwhile, about 10% to 20% of healthy people have those bacteria in the area between the genitals and the anus.

For those who carry those bacteria, the infection is spread by the person from their nose of the other areas to the skin. On the other hand, the strep that cause infantigo starts with the strep bacteria that spread to the skin form someone with infantigo. In fact, the streap does not survive on the skin for more than the few hours. It cannot be detected why the strep bacteria can stay on the skin of someone who develop infantigo for 10 days, before the appearance of the blisters. According to some researches, some strains of step bacteria can cause the throat infections, while the others can cause the skin infections.
